Assistant Professor (Adjunkt) in Southeast Asian Studies / Thai

Requirements
Documented research on post-doctoral level in one or several subjects 
related to history and culture of Southeast Asia, preferably in the 
fields of literature, history or social sciences. Documented language 
competence in Thai to teach it as a second language at BA and MA levels. 
Knowledge and ability to teach more than one Southeast Asian language 
and/or a broad range of subjects related to the history and culture of 
Southeast Asia in addition to Thailand would be an advantage.

Duties
The main duty of the appointee will be, besides general administrative 
duties, to develop and teach courses at the BA and MA levels on various 
aspects of Southeast Asian history and culture relevant to the 
curriculum. The appointee will also teach Thai language courses at BA 
and MA levels, and will be responsible for the organisation of Thai 
language courses. The appointee is also responsible for given 
examinations in all courses taught. Furthermore, the appointee should be 
prepared to participate in multidisciplinary courses offered from the 
institute at large (please consult www.tors.ku.dk).

Appointment to this position is temporary and limited to 3 years.

The Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies is concerned with 
those cultures, languages, religions and societies that lie outside 
Western Europe and North America.
Appointment as an assistant professor presumes academic qualifications 
on PhD level. Please refer to Circular no. 9427 of 13 June 2007 on the

about academic, teaching and any other relevant qualifications. As well 
as a CV, applications must include a complete and numbered list of 
publications stipulating which works the applicant wishes to be taken 
into consideration. The maximum number of publications submitted is six. 
These must be submitted in triplicate. The application and the 
enclosures must be submitted in four copies.

up an expert assessment committee to consider the appointment concerned.

individual applicants will be afforded the opportunity to comment on the 
part of the assessment relating to themselves before an appointment is

Remuneration and conditions of employment as per the current agreement 
between the Ministry of Finance and the appropriate trade union. 
Assistant professors receive a pensionable supplement of DKK 44,899.51 p.a.
