Dear Colleague,

We are writing to share with you the new fixes and enhancements applied to
the Graduate Student Management System (GSMS). Below is a summary of the
fixes included in the production release notes
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QGtK5TeS33B4j4XIFaFb2NB5F-Y2ITPHwozcsQxsAA0/edit?tab=t.ketl2cngqto8>
from the week of October 26, 2026:
Employment Module

   -

Added a "Faculty Representative" option to the Chair list, allowing a
non-chair faculty member to sign the Appointment letter.
   -

Created automated email notifications for hiring department contacts to
receive whenever an offer is created or updated.
   -

Updated permissions so faculty supervisors can directly request changes
to the Description of Duties (DoDs) for their assigned offers.
   -

Improved the status message displayed to students when an offer returns
   to the "In Review" stage.
   -

Fixed an issue where application expiration times calculated incorrectly
   due to time zone differences.
   -

Resolved document download failures by automatically removing special
   characters from file titles.

Admissions Module

   -

Implemented a validation check against established Compensation Tables
   to prevent overpayment issues.
   -

Combined fee and remission totals are now evaluated against
Compensation Tables, which serve as the authoritative standard.
      -

When total funding exceeds permitted limits, the system triggers a
validation error and halts further routing.
      -

Users retain the ability to save financial chart drafts even when
      validation flags exist.
      -

Exempted Professional and Self-Supporting degree tracks from the
      standard Graduate Tuition/Fees comparison check.
      -

Updated some wording in the Admissions Module to address space and comma
   issues.
   -

The take home value grand total was not displaying accurately. The
system now accounts for the appropriate values and displays the take home
grand total in the user interface (UI).
   -

Updated code to ensure templates work correctly for the 27/28 cycle for
   fees and salary additions.
   -

A new admin screen was created for the Graduate Division to assist with
looking up major code and department association from Banner.
   -

Logic was applied to the system to prevent the inactive support type
from being used and to prompt the user with the appropriate message when
they try to add an inactive support type to a chart.
   -

Addressed a logic issue causing a rounding discrepancy of 1 to 2 cents
off. Slate and GSMS are aligned now.
   -

Implemented a new rule and the validation needed for GSR No PFR/GSHIP
for the GSR Trainee - 1st year STEM.
