The Lecturer Device Program for Local 18 is Available

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to inform you that the Lecturer Device Program for Local 18
is now available to Unit 18 lecturers. Through this program, Unit 18
lecturers may obtain a university-owned device that’s equipped with the UCR
Security Toolset, and therefore compliant with UC Cybersecurity Mandate 2025

How to Request a Device

If you are interested in utilizing the Lecturer Device Program, please
follow the guidance in ITS Knowledge Base article KB0012312

titled “How to Request a Local 18 Lecturers Union Laptop through the ITS
Service Portal.” You may access the program’s service request form directly
from the IT Service Portal

Be sure to select “Lecturer Device Program - Local 18” as the request type.
Planned Implementation of Security Compliance Checks Begin This Fall

As explained in the “August Updates Related to UC Cybersecurity Mandate
2025 Implementation and Upgrade to Toolset Version 1.2” notice sent through
your union representative, the phased implementation of security compliance
checks will commence at the end of September, with full implementation by
November 2025. To ensure that Local 18 lecturers have ample time to secure
a device through the device program, the security compliance checks will
not be implemented for Local 18 lecturers prior to October 31, 2025.

ITS strongly encourages Local 18 lecturers who wish to utilize the device
program for fall 2025 to complete the above request form as soon as
possible so they can pick up the device from the Computing & Communication
Center
