This updated version will no longer support macOS version 10.12 and older.
If your Mac device is currently running on macOS 10.12 or an older version,
you will not be able to sign in to your UCR Zoom account nor join any
meetings hosted through UCR’s Zoom starting on November 2.
Take Action Now to Continue Using Zoom
To ensure continued access to your UCR Zoom account, you may take any of
the following actions:
-
(For Students) Apply for a Loaner Device: The Loan2Learn program
supports students in need of off-campus access to a learning device. Visit
the ITS Knowledge Base
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0011606>
to learn how to request a loaner device or contact BearHelp at 951-827-4848
to inquire about a short-term loaner device that is compatible with Zoom.
-
Upgrade Your Mac Device: If your hardware no longer supports a newer
macOS version that is compatible with Zoom, you may consider purchasing a
new Mac device. Affected faculty and staff may discuss this option with
their respective department administrators.
As per Zoom’s policy
<https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0061130>,
a new minimum version is enforced every three months. This policy is
designed to help ensure that Zoom users receive the latest Zoom features,
as well as any privacy and security enhancements applied to the platform.
For this reason, users are not able to choose which version of the
application they would like to be on. To avoid disruptions to your day to
day activities, please ensure that your device’s operating system is
compatible with the newest version of Zoom by November 2. We sincerely
apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please get in
touch with me at siddiq at ucr.edu.
Sincerely,
