[Campus Notice] Phone Service Upgrade to Zoom Coming Soon

Dear Campus Phone User,

Information Technology Solutions (ITS) is excited to notify you that your
telephony service will soon be upgraded to UCR’s unified, modern telephony
platform, Zoom Phone Services <https://its.ucr.edu/zoom-phone-services>.

Zoom Phone is a type of phone service that utilizes Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP) technology. This allows users to make voice calls over
broadband internet, rather than through a traditional, analog connection.
As such, ITS will not be automatically replacing physical phones.

However, if you require a physical phone

please inform your Department Administrator so they can determine if a Telecom
work order
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_category&catalog_id=6dc6382437e8cb40a2e983dcb3990e88>
will be submitted on your behalf.

The Go Live date of your phone service transition will be announced soon.
To ensure a smooth transition, you will be invited to attend an
instructor-led training session prior to Zoom Phone activation. Please keep
an eye out for this invitation via email. Note that training resources will
be available to those unable to attend the training session, but we
encourage you to participate in the instructor-led training.

You will also receive information about the Zoom Phone migration user
experience, as well as guidance on managing phone equipment.
About Zoom Phone Services

As part of the Digital Transformation <https://its.ucr.edu/projects>
initiative, ITS has invested in Zoom Phone Services to replace outdated and
soon-to-be unsupported technology. This new, reliable, and flexible phone
service will keep UCR connected and allow everyone to communicate more
effectively and efficiently.
