Good afternoon,
I am writing to you because our records show that you are currently using a
Microsoft Office 365 A1 Plus license designated for students. As part
of Microsoft’s
recent changes to education licenses
<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office-365-a1-plus>,
these student licenses will be discontinued on August 1, 2024.
To ensure you do not lose your current access to O365 applications (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), you are being provided a complimentary A1
license. While this license provides continued access to the tools via
office.com <https://www.office.com>, please note that it does not include
the desktop applications.
If access to desktop applications is important for your work, you are
encouraged to discuss the purchase of an A3 license with your department
administrator. This is the standard license for UCR staff and faculty and
provides the full Microsoft Office 365 suite. Department administrators can
find license procurement information on the ITS website
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0012224>
.
We understand that changes to tools can be disruptive. If you have
questions or require assistance during this transition, please don’t
hesitate to contact BearHelp at 951-827-4848 from Monday to Friday, between
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, or submit an IT ticket online
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal?id=ucr_home_new&logged_in=false>
.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Lily Barger
