[IT Notice] Phishing Email Removal in Connection with Cyberattack

Dear UCR User, 

 

The UC Riverside Information Security Office, in coordination with the UC
Riverside Privacy Officer and UC Office of the President (UCOP), is
responding to a security incident involving UC employee information. A
formal notice detailing this event will go out to campus shortly. 

 

This message is to inform you that a phishing email connected to a major
cyberattack affecting the University of California was removed from your UCR
email inbox. While we were able to prevent most of the Highlander community
from receiving this malicious email, you were one of a handful of users who
received it. To ensure your safety and protect your privacy, the UC
Riverside Information Security Office received approval from the Chief
Information Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and Privacy Officer
to employ our campus' access without permission process to remove the email
from your account in accordance with Section IV(B)(2) of the UC Electronic
Communications Policy. 

 

Please note that no other information connected to your email account was
read, collected, or deleted. Please also note that receipt of this email is
not an indication that your personal data was compromised in the known
cyberattack.
