[Tech-bulletin] Notice of Access Change to UCR Mail Groups

Dear Campus User, 

  

You are receiving this email because you have been identified as the owner
of a Mail Group in the application MailGroups at UCR. Please be informed that
this application was recently moved to our new data center as part of ITS'
Project Genesis effort <https://genesis.ucr.edu/> . This email is to make
you aware of a significant change to your login access as a result of this
move.  

 

Previously the Mail Groups management website (https://mailgroups.ucr.edu/)
was openly accessible regardless of computer or internet connectivity.  As a
result of the system's relocation to the new data center you must now either
be on campus or connected to the UCR GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network
(VPN) in order to access the management website. Please note that this
change is limited only to accessing the management website and does not
affect the ability to send/receive email.  

 

If needed, instructions on how to install and connect to the VPN can be
found in the ITS Knowledge Base:

This change was made as part of our efforts to bolster information security
and protect campus systems and data. ITS encourages you to always use the
VPN when working remotely to help safeguard campus data and your personal
information.
