Career Counselor Position Available

Terrific opportunity to deliver counseling and career development services at the fastest growing and most diverse campus in the University of California system. The UC Riverside Career Center has responded to this diversity and growth by incorporating innovative technology and media into its career development services. We are seeking a individual with experience counseling undergraduate and graduate students in a university career center environment, who has the ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team. 

Responsibilities include career counseling, assessment interpretation, preparation and delivery of skill-building workshops, and general program development. The position also requires strong written and verbal communications skills, experience building relationships in an academic setting, and a comprehensive understanding of the current job market. Additional duties include service on various committees, functioning as the primary liaison for academic units and industry recruiters. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree.
· Well-developed counseling skills, knowledge of career development theory, and effective job search techniques.
· Demonstrated skill in expressing ideas clearly and convincingly.
· Skill in creating and using spreadsheets and reports using appropriate software applications.
· Knowledge of graduate and professional school options, testing services, admissions requirements and practices, and career outcomes associated with advanced degrees.
· Knowledge of vocational test administration and interpretation.
· Knowledge of marketing strategies, and ability to develop and implement effective marketing programs.
· Knowledge of career related technologies and their applications.
· Ability to develop and conduct workshops, seminars, and other group instructional programs.
· Hired applicant must posses a valid California Driver's license; and must successfully pass a background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Master's degree in career counseling
· Experience advising students in University level career center.
· Knowledge of employer recruiting practices relating to college graduates.
· Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures related to the responsibilities of the job.
· Understanding of current technology practices in service delivery such as pod casting, online resources, and career services management systems.
