Hey everyone -
I wanted to send a reminder about STEP on Monday. We'll be in the
Counseling Center Group Room again from noon-1:30pm.
We will be focusing our discussion on the Virginia Tech shooting and
the impact it has for UCR and our students. Individuals from the
Counseling Center, Student Judicial Affairs, and Housing have agreed to
be there to help get the conversation started. I am hoping that all
will be able to join and participate in the dialogue.
What impact does this incident have on the climate for Korean and Asian
students, particularly those at UCR?
How does an incident like this affect Res Hall communities, given where
the shooting occurred?
How can we be proactive and NOT reactive in addressing UCR campus
safety, given what happened?
What pressure will be put or has been put on Counseling Centers and
Judicial Affairs offices to help "prevent" this from occurring on other
campuses? Is that fair? What role do the rest of us play in ensuring
a safe campus?
These are just to get us started! What else is on your mind about this
incident?
