Dear University of California Colleagues,

The departments of Mathematics and Computer Science at Humboldt State University (HSU) are searching for four new tenure-track assistant professor to start in the Fall 2022 semester:  two in Data Science, one in Computer Science, and one in Software Engineering.  HSU is on the path to become the third polytechnic university of the California State University, and is currently building several new undergraduate programs for launch in the 2023-2024 academic year, including programs in Data Science and Software Engineering.   Please see the attached position descriptions.  I am sending you this message today because one or more of these faculty opportunities may be of interest to Ph.D. candidates in the program(s) that you help to administer.  Please share the attachments with potential applicants, as appropriate.

We are especially interested in hiring the most qualified individual from a diverse applicant pool.  We are looking for candidates who will help build a culturally diverse department committed to teaching and working in an inclusive environment.  Candidates should be excited about the prospect to educate a student body composed of a high number of first-generation and traditionally underserved college students.  We think these faculty positions offer a great opportunity to have a positive impact on programs, curriculum, and learning for current and future students at HSU.
