Please be advised that our building will be participating in the Great
ShakeOut Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 15, at 10:15AM.
Disasters happen without warning, and practicing emergency procedures
builds the muscle memory needed to act quickly during a real crisis. All
staff in the building are expected to participate.
*Drill Schedule:*
*Earthquake Drill *(Drop, Cover, and Hold On)
When the public address system announces the drill, immediately execute the
standard earthquake safety steps:
DROP: Drop onto your hands and knees. This position prevents you from being
knocked over while staying low enough to crawl if necessary.
COVER: Cover your head and neck with one arm and hand.
- If a sturdy desk or table is nearby, crawl underneath it for shelter.
- If no desk/table is nearby, crawl next to an interior wall away from
windows, hanging objects, and tall furniture.
HOLD ON: Hold on to your shelter (or your head and neck) until you receive
the signal that the earthquake portion of the drill is complete
(approximately 1–2 minutes).
*Evacuation Drill*Following the earthquake simulation drill, building
alarms will sound to initiate a full building evacuation.
Evacuate Calmly: Grab essential personal items only if they are immediately
within reach (keys, wallet, phone) and walk to the nearest emergency exit.
Do Not Use Elevators: Always use the stairwells during an evacuation.
Proceed to Assembly Area: Gather at our designated evacuation meeting
point, Lot 21.
At the conclusion of the fire drill, everyone will reenter the building and
resume work as usual.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you,
Nikki
