Join us for a worldwide conversation on artist Melinda Gebbie’s sumptuous
retrospective art book, Melinda Gebbie’s Greatest Fits, with the artist
herself and the author of the introduction, Dr. Melanie West! We’ll talk
about Gebbie’s decades-long career in fine art and comix, feminism, and
creative cultures, with special guest Dr. Yamuna Sangarasivam.

This event will be hybrid: in person at HMNSS 1500 and online.

Melinda Gebbie <https://www.melindagebbie.com/index.html> is a cartoonist,
illustrator, painter, sculptor, underground comix innovator and author of
banned books. She is best known for contributing to Wimmen’s Comix and
co-creating Lost Girls with Alan Moore.

Melanie West, Ph.D. <https://www.melanie-west.com/>, is an
interdisciplinary artist-academic and Black comix artist from Rochester,
New York. She teaches at Cal State Los Angeles.

Yamuna Sangarasivam, Ph.D
<https://www2.naz.edu/dept/sociology-anthropology/faculty-and-staff/yamuna-sangarasivam>,
is Professor of Anthropology and Director of Women and Gender Studies at
Nazareth University in New York. She is the author of Nationalism,
Terrorism, Patriotism: A Speculative Ethnography of War.

andré carrington, Ph.D. <https://www.andrecarringtonphd.com/>, is associate
professor of English and Director of Speculative Fiction & Cultures of
Science at UC Riverside. He is the author of Audiofuturism
