[Sfts-students] Alexis Lothian Talks Queer Speculation & Justice Fandoms June 2nd!

Hi all,

I hope the final weeks of your spring quarter are not too harrowing and
that you have some fun summer plans to look forward to!

As a *hopefully* spirit-lifting event for the last week of classes, the
GSEA is hosting queer theory & fandom scholar Alexis Lothian on June 2nd
via Zoom from 12-1:30 p.m. Dr. Lothian will be giving a talk based on her
current research on queer speculation and social justice fandoms, which
builds on her work in her (wonderful) first book, Old Futures: Speculative
Fiction and Queer Possibility. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A
session open to all attendees.

The event should be of interest to anyone working in fandom studies, queer
theory, utopian studies, and/or speculative fiction/SF studies.
