Subject: SFRA Review special issue, Us in Flux
To: Sherryl Vint <sherrylv at ucr.edu>

I’m writing today because our Center for Science and the Imagination is
partnering with the Science Fiction Research Association on a special issue
<https://sfrareview.org/2020/07/31/51-1-cfp/> of their open-access journal
*SFRA Review*. The special issue builds on our recent Us in Flux
<https://csi.asu.edu/usinflux> project, which explores issues of community,
collaboration, and collective imagination through stories and virtual
events.

We’re seeking thinkpieces of 2000-3000 words that use Us in Flux, its
guiding themes, and its stories as jumping-off points to examine
speculative fiction and its interactions with a variety of mutable possible
futures, and its intersections and collisions with real-world efforts to
reimagine and redefine community, collaboration, and collectivity.

Submissions for the special issue are open now, through October 4. For the
initial submission we’re just looking for 250-word abstracts and author
bios. Learn more and find submission instructions here.

Let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to send curious folks
with queries my way.

Thank you so much!

Joey
