Dear all,

Happy Summer! I hope you're all playing and/or working hard, and taking
some time for a little breather.

I myself have been on vacation (Portland is amazing!) for my birthday last
month, and I waggle my crabby Cancerian claws in honor of all the Leos,
whose time is now!

I'll start with another call for submissions:

   - The next issue of *Vector: the Journal of the British Science Fiction
   Association* will be themed around the concept of 'Play,' enfolding
   video games/TTRPGs/game industry labor practices, VR/AR, and other related
   topics. Check out the CfP on Vector's website
   <https://vector-bsfa.com/2026/07/28/new-call-for-proposals-play/> and do
   consider sending something in to us! *Proposals are due September 30th,
   2026*.

Next, a couple of exciting new acquisitions for the Eaton:

   - A mini-archive of materials from 1982–1984 centering on the personal
   library and correspondence of the legendary science fiction master, critic,
   and poet *Thomas M. Disch*. These materials provide valuable insight
   into his professional relationship with *Rudy Rucker*.
   - Two books by award winning author and editor *Sheree Renée Thomas*:
   *Mojorhythm *(Third Man Books: 2025) and *Ring Shout on Saturn* (Third
   Man Books: 2026).

Finally, I'll be paneling at *World Con in LA* next month (*August
27th-31st*) with colleagues from Cal State Fullerton and the Huntington
Library, as well as curating an exhibit on LA Con '84 using photographs
from our Jay Kay Klein collection
