Dear all,

I'm typing this out in my office while dressed as the most busted version
of Dr. Ellie Satler <https://jurassicpark.fandom.com/wiki/Ellie_Sattler>
you've ever seen, $15 Party City Wig and all.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

October might not be the cruelest month, but it certainly feels like one of
the busiest. Let's start with a couple of our most exciting acquisitions:

- Two issues (including a rare 1957 first printing) of *El Eternauta*, the
landmark Argentine sci-fi comic, recently adapted for Netflix as *The
Eternaut.*

- A mini five-issue archive of *queer, feminist underground comics from
1973-1978*, including '*Dyke,' 'Dynamite Damsels*,' and '*Last Gasp
Eco-Funnies*.'

This month we had the second annual *Inland Empire Archives Fair,*
organized by Sandy Enriquez and Andrew Lippert, which saw 14 local cultural
heritage institutions table with us under the Rivera arches. It also saw
the return of the legendary 'Sexy Spock' fanzine, which, if you missed it,
will be out again next year (or you can come and view it in the reading
room at any time!)

I also paneled at* LA Archives Bazaar*, and was lucky enough to see an
early screening of PBS' Lost LA <https://www.pbssocal.org/shows/lost-la>episode
that features the Eaton Collection and UCR! (You might remember they came
to film last year). The episode is releasing in January 2026, so mark your
calendars.

Lastly: stay tuned for the final schedule for the 2026 Eaton Symposium in
the coming few weeks.

Have a fantastic Halloween, and an even better weekend!

Warmth and light,

Phoenix
