Dear all,

The start of the quarter is officially upon us! The sun still holds the
bright but fading warmth of summer, campus is bustling with activity, and
it's impossible to get a free squat rack at the Rec Center.

I hope everyone is energized, refreshed, and raring to go!

This is quite a lengthy update, so I'll start by saying: any *students or
faculty who want to learn more about the materials in the Eaton Collection
and how they can support your research and pedagogy, do write and get in
touch! I can facilitate class visits, workshops, and 1-1 research
consultations. *

There are a *ton* of things going on this month, but to highlight just a
few:

- I'll be tabling at the *Riverside Book Festival*
<https://riversidebookfestival.org/> with my colleague Sandy Enriquez
on *Saturday,
October 11th*, at the Riverside Main Library, downtown. Come chat with us
to find out more about the Eaton Collection/Special Collections at UCR, see
some neat items, and pick up swag!

- The following *Saturday, October 18th* is the* Annual LA Archives Bazaar
<https://laassubject.org/archives-bazaar>* at *Cal State LA*. I'll be
speaking on a panel with Anne-Marie Maxwell (USC Libraries), Lexi Johnson
(ONE Archives). and Ayana Jamison (USC), following a screening of a
PBS-produced documentary on science fiction—part of their Lost LA
series—featuring, among other things, the Eaton Collection, and yours truly!

- Speaking of archives, the* Inland Empire Archives Fair
<https://events.ucr.edu/event/archives-fair-2025>* is happening on *Wednesday,
October 22nd, 10am-3pm, outside (and inside!) Rivera Library*. Come learn
about the Inland Empire’s history through our community partners, student
posters, zine and sticker giveaways, workshops, pop-up exhibits, and more!

*Recent acquisitions* include:

- Two additional boxes of materials for the Kenneth Johnson Collection,
including materials relating to:
