Dear all,
Warmer weather is finally here! Huzzah!
I'll reverse my usual email format this time, and start with events first:
*
the Eaton Conference took place on campus on the 4th and 5th of April and was a tremendous success! Flowers are in order for Professor carrington and the fantastic team of students who organized it. Online recordings of the panels will be up in the next few weeks on UCR Library's YouTube page, so you can catch up on all the brilliance if you couldn't attend in-person.
*
A new exhibit has landed in Special Collections, curated by our amazing Processing Archivist and comics expert Andrew Lippert: Neon in the Gutters: Cyberpunk visions of the Future. Consider this a 'soft launch,' as we're currently in the process of installing an elaborate decorative element as the proverbial cherry on top — but do come and check out the exhibit on the fourth floor of the Rivera Library, grab one of the gorgeous exhibit guides, and don't forget to sign the guest book!
New acquisitions for the Eaton Collection this month include:
*
Eberton Ferreira et al, Xamã 1-5; Xamã & Magílica (2016-2021) - an Indigenous superhero comic series.
*
Leone Ross, ed. Glimpse: a Black British anthology of speculative fiction (2022).
*
A rare political satirical pamphlet from J. G. Ballard (1968).
...as well as ongoing arrivals of contemporary, award-nominated and award-winning titles in sf/f.
That's all for now! Take care!
Warmth and light,
Phoenix

We at UCR would like to respectfully acknowledge and recognize our responsibility to the original and current caretakers of this land, water, and air: the Cahuilla, Tongva, Luiseño, and Serrano peoples and all of their ancestors and descendants, past, present, and future. Today this meeting place is home to many Indigenous peoples from all over the world, including UCR faculty, students, and staff, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these homelands.
