Dear all,

I hope the quarter is treating you well!

Just a few updates this month:

  * I was very excited to show some materials from the Eaton Collection to SFCS current and prospective students, and am always happy to offer research guidance to any SFF-related projects! You can find a comprehensive introduction to Special Collections and University Archives, and how to access them, on UCR Library's YouTube channel<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3ZSIY9Zng4>.

  *
We received some more materials for the Carl A. Wiley Collection on solar sails (MS 315), including both short fiction and academic articles about the technology. Check out the collection at the following link: Carl A. Wiley collection on solar sails (cdlib.org)<https://oac.cdlib.org/findaid/ark:/13030/c8000763/entire_text/>

  * We also acquired a very rare and privately printed and circulated copy of Avram Davidson's<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avram_Davidson> Adventures in Autobiography, which is a fascinating read (and beautifully bound volume).

There are plenty of other exciting acquisitions and projects in the works - but I can't say too much more at the minute...

More soon!

Warmth and light,

Phoenix

Recommended book of the month: The Space Between Worlds, Micaiah Johnson (2020).

We at UCR would like to respectfully acknowledge and recognize our responsibility to the original and current caretakers of this land, water, and air: the Cahuilla, Tongva, Luiseño, and Serrano peoples and all of their ancestors and descendants, past, present, and future. Today this meeting place is home to many Indigenous peoples from all over the world, including UCR faculty, students, and staff, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these homelands.
