Dear Sarah,

I’m reaching out to you because I am currently recruiting for a Special Collections & Archives Instruction & Reference Librarian<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcareers.wesleyan.edu%2Fpostings%2F9274&data=05%7C01%7Csarah.harford%40yale.edu%7C03f475d119f24f4b1b3208dab5d89490%7Cdd8cbebb21394df8b4114e3e87abeb5c%7C0%7C0%7C638022239059734849%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=u%2BYOWj6fmHF6zlJn3Ufu%2BbLAEozg%2Fiejn1KaZGMFBEk%3D&reserved=0> and I’m hoping you may know of potential candidates.

We are looking for someone with a love and knowledge of rare books that can bring a unique perspective to our department. The position is for the 2023 calendar year and it is a 0.75 FTE with benefits. We are looking for someone to help teach class sessions on rare books, history of the book, and artist books along with helping with answering reference questions and sitting at a reference desk. We’ve worked to write the position in such a way to make it open to a broad range of applicants with various levels of experience.

As you likely know, Wesleyan University is a small liberal arts school located in Middletown, CT. The library is a wonderful place to work. We have a supportive culture among staff, and our students and faculty are a joy to work with. They’re independent-minded, questioning, and devoted learners. If you know of someone with a background in rare books who is thinking about career options, this may be a path for them to consider. I would be happy to talk with anyone who wants to know more about the position or university.

I’m hoping you can help spread the word by sending it to your graduate students and recent graduates that may be interested especially any from diverse backgrounds. Or if there’s someone else that I should reach out to, please let me know.

The full job description and how to apply can be found here: https://careers.wesleyan.edu/postings/9274<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcareers.wesleyan.edu%2Fpostings%2F9274&data=05%7C01%7Csarah.harford%40yale.edu%7C03f475d119f24f4b1b3208dab5d89490%7Cdd8cbebb21394df8b4114e3e87abeb5c%7C0%7C0%7C638022239059734849%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=u%2BYOWj6fmHF6zlJn3Ufu%2BbLAEozg%2Fiejn1KaZGMFBEk%3D&reserved=0>

Let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Amanda
