Brazil are theorists and activists of Brazilian Afrofuturismo, a movement
that encompasses theory, activism, literature and comics, visual and
performing arts, and fashion and design.

Afrofuturismo draws on the Yoruba religious tradition and images, and
envisions retribution for five centuries of enslavement, displacement, and
cultural violence. Yoruba spirit magic powers the city’s psychic phones,
flying cars, power generators, computers, and food production, and
vigilante cyber-mutants relentlessly punish corruption, racism, and sexual
violence.
