Item below snipped from SAA’s newsletter. Really interesting use of Kickstarter; note that they’ve raised almost twice their goal!

Collection Takes Fundraising Effort to the Internet
Securing donations for archives is always a challenge. The Lotus Collection—an archive composed of pieces from science fiction, fantasy, and horror authors and events, has taken the effort online through Kickstarter<http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2040521099/locus-photo-and-ephemera-archive-project>, a funding platform that allows website visitors to pledge donations to various projects. The collection is raising money to digitize its catalog and has raised nearly $16,000—and counting—through the website.
