Cervantes by July 31, so they're looking for someone who can step in quickly. Requesting a meeting is pretty easy, and the advocates can provide all the support for making the request.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;font-size:small">The purpose of the meeting is to ask Sen. Cervantes, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, to </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;font-size:small">(1) support a bill sponsored by Eaton Fire Residents United, AB 1642, the Wildfire Environmental Safety and Testing Act—which would establish science-based testing standards for wildfire smoke contamination and ensure contaminants are at safe levels before families return to their smoke-contaminated homes, and </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;font-size:small">(2) oppose a second bill, AB 1795, the Smoke Damage Recovery Act, unless that bill is amended in ways to strengthen it and make it protective for wildfire smoke damage survivors—as it stands, this bill would not protect insurance policy holders that survive wildfires.
