The Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (IC4IJ) is seeking a student intern to do background research on a Cal EPA grant for water quality community education and civic engagement in the High Desert. IC4IJ is testing water quality at several sites in the High Desert, particularly around the Adelanto Detention Center. The goal is to produce a report to inform elected officials.
IC4IJ is seeking a student intern to do background research on toxic sites in the high desert, analyze and compile information for the report.
Time commitment: 5-10 hours/week through mid-April 2026
Weekly meeting (zoom or in person) with the grant lead, Esmeralda Santos (Lead Organizer with IC4IJ)
Qualifications:
Research experience is necessary (could include any coursework that required independent research)
Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred
Some coursework in Environmental Science or Earth Science preferred (not required)
Intern may receive 2 units of course credit for SEHE 198I (Individual Internship).
