In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hello SEHE friends, See this important call for action from SEHE faculty Juliann Allison: The 2001 "Roadless Rule" protects ~58 million acres of undeveloped national forestlands across 39 states from new road construction, commercial logging, and industrial mining. The original regulation received more than 1.6 million comments, more than any other federal rule in U.S. history. Now, the USDA has initiated the process of revoking the Roadless Rule, and shifting management decisions to local and state forest leadership. Research by the Sierra Club, the Nature Conservancy, Columbia Law School, PLOS and others suggests that this shift will not sustain current protections, but rather increase wildfire risk and ecological harm by opening protected wildlands to development and extraction. 99% of the more than 183,000 comments received during the initial review period oppose the proposed rescinding the Rule. *The public comment period has been extended through October 6. * Submit your comment here: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FS-2025-0001-223869. Thank you! Dana ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Tatiana Flores Date: Tue, Sep 29, 2026 at 3:04?PM Subject: Re: Teachers! Educators! Support Requested - Mead Valley Warehouse Boundary To: Karla Cervantes Hello! Hope you all had a restful weekend. I am reaching out to share an update-- the County of Riverside's Planning Commission held a public hearing on the warehouse boundary (that I discussed with some of you) on Wednesday, September 23rd. Community members were present to share their concerns about additional industrial development for various reasons. The Planning Commission motioned to table the decision for the warehouse boundary for their meeting on October 21st. Therefore, there is still time to write a letter opposing this boundary! I am really hoping to get teachers, educators, and people who work with youth to join me in fighting for diversification in opportunities. If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you to those who have submitted letters already! Best, Tatiana M.
