[Sehefac] Save the date - UCR GIve Day

Dear colleagues,
UCR Give Day is coming up on April 7-8.

I invite you to participate in the campaign and support UCR LIFTED, a
program with which I am closely affiliated.

UC Riverside provides students living in prison in Inland Southern
California the opportunity to earn a UCR Bachelor of Arts degree in
Education, Society, and Human Development through UCR LIFTED. This program
amplifies incarcerated voices and prepares students to become future
advocates for justice and education. Only 7% of U.S. colleges offer higher
education in prisons, and just 53 allow students to complete a bachelor’s
degree while incarcerated. UCR LIFTED brings UCR faculty into a local
prison to teach the same courses offered on campus by faculty who are
leaders in their respective fields. In June 2026, UCR LIFTED will celebrate
its inaugural graduating cohort, a historic milestone.
