Very interesting and important.
Ann, this piece (the paper and the interview) are ’trade marks’ to work that should go further.

I read with interest because our team works also on impact of dust in the central valley, but we could not assign a dollar value to the negative health impacts. May be this will spark a joint work with the people in the school of public policy (CCed), working on measuring environmental externality and health policy impacts.

I also suggest that you ask to correct the typo in the paragraph of the KVCR interview:
“These are individuals who are [l]earning 25,000 or less a year,” said Cheney. “They just can't afford better living conditions and structures that could protect them from the element[s].”
