Dear friends of SEHE,
I'd like to share some happenings this week of interest to you and your
students. A special highlight is the roundtable of community organizers
against warehouse development on Thursday at 5pm.

On Wednesday 10/29:

   - The Scholars Strategy Network is hosting a webinar
   <https://scholars.my.salesforce-sites.com/event/home/ssnallmemberprogramming102025>
on The Climate Health Crisis and the Role of Researchers, 10-11:15am
   - Artist, teacher and friend of SEHE Cynthia Huerta is holding a Dia de
   los Muertos Nicho Workshop
   <https://events.ucr.edu/event/dia-de-los-muertos-nicho-workshop>, 1-3pm
   in INTS 1111
   - Faculty members can round out the day by visiting the Riverside
Faculty Association Town Hall, 4-5:30pm in INTS 1113, in the aftermath of
the successful lawsuit brought by CUCFA on the Trump demand letter to UC.

On Thursday 10/30, there are two great and (sadly) overlapping events:

   - *“Inland Valley Alliances: Building Community Decision Making Around
Warehouses”* (5-6:30pm, Sproul 2339) How are Riverside residents
organizing to build community decision making power to stem warehouse
developments in our region? Come to this panel discussion with Jen Larratt
Smith, R-NOW (Riverside Neighbors Organized Against Warehouses) and Karla
Cervantes Pacheco and Franco Pacheco (Inland Valley Alliance/Perris Valley
and Mead Valley) on their community-based organizing to limit new warehouse
construction in their neighborhoods. Learn from and join their
   on-the-ground efforts.
   - The Latinx & the Environment seminar is hosting Environmental Sciences
professor Pete Homyak, who will present his research on the soil
   microbiome, 4:30-6pm in SSC 216.

I hope to see you at one of these events! Good luck out there.
Dana
