I wanted to share the invite to give public comments and participate in the
mobilization at the HQ of the South Coast Air Quality Management District
(SCAQMD) @ Diamond Bar this FRIDAY Oct. 3rd at 8 am. I would appreciate if
you could share this information with SEHE students.

As you know several Environmental Justice groups, including PC4EJ, have
been advocating for an Indirect Sources Regulation (ISR) on the San Pedro
Bay Ports Complex (Port of LA and Long Beach). After years of working on a
regulation, the SCAQMD, decided to stop working in the ISR and capitulate
to the Ports and Shipping industry to go for a voluntary agreement with no
emission reductions. As precedent, in 2021 SCAQMD tried to pursue a
voluntary agreement with the ports and it didn't go through, it failed and
no regulation was enacted.

This board hearing will be crucial to let the board members know that we
know voluntary agreements like this don't work and that we need a reduction
of polluting emissions, and ports accountability on their polluting
emissions. We deserve clean air and healthy communities.
