>From SEHE faculty and Labor Studies Director Ellen Reese (my understanding
is that the unions prefer for classes and events to continue, to encourage
folks to be present and join the picket line):

Just sharing a few UC labor-related action items that might interest you &
others you know; please help to spread the word!

First, below is a link to an individual sign-on letter to protect the UC
Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship program, which is currently facing
efforts to cut back its hiring incentive.

Second, AFSCME 3299 at UCR (representing service & patient care workers)
will be participating in a UC-wide strike on Mon, 11/17-Tues 11/18 in their
effort to obtain a fair contract at the bargaining table. The picket lines
will be active between 7am-4pm. Striking workers appreciate any support you
can give them on the picket line (all are welcome!). The picket line is
usually at the corner of University Ave & West Campus Drive. In recent
strikes they held a march & rally around campus starting around 10:30am
(but the schedule is always subject to change). For background info on why
workers are striking & their demands, see:
https://afscme3299.org/blog/nov2025strike/

P.S. UPTE 9119 reached a tentative agreement in their bargaining with UC,
so cancelled their previously planned strike.

In solidarity,
Ellen Reese
Director, Labor Studies at UCR
