Dear colleagues,

As AFSCME 3299 reports, "UPTE-CWA 9119 is holding a one-day ULP strike on
Tuesday, April 1 against UC’s unfair labor practices. Like us, they have
been affected by UC’s bad-faith bargaining, which has been preventing them
from reaching a fair and just contract. We won’t stand by. We will be
going on strike in solidarity!" This means that members of 2 campus unions
(AFSCME 3299 & UPTE-CWA 9119) will both be on strike this Tuesday, April 1
between 6am-4pm. UPTE's RSVP suggests they especially need support between
7am and 2pm.

There are many ways to show solidarity for workers on strike. My last
conversation with AFSCME 3299 representatives indicated that, at this time,
they prefer all faculty & student supporters to join them on the picket
line rather than cancelling classes or events. When classes or events are
cancelled, this often results in fewer students & faculty joining them on
the picket line. They want to increase campus awareness and to see as many
supporters (including students & faculty) as possible on the picket line. The
UCR picket line is most likely located at the campus entrance on University
Ave & West Campus Dr but it could be roving if there is a march or rally.

Even if you stop by for a short visit to say hello, find out more, and/or
chant and hold a sign, striking workers will appreciate it.
