[Sehefac] Happy New Year! Join us for a talk by Jade Sasser and SEHE social hour on 1/15

Dear SEHE friends and affiliates,
Many good wishes to all of you at the start of this New Year. It has been
such an honor to travel with you through the past year. Thank you for your
company as we hold joy for each other in 2025. (We'll need it!)

I'd like to invite you to a short research talk by SEHE faculty* Jade
Sasser on Wednesday 1/15 (3:30-5pm, INTN 3023) *as part of the
student-organized Latinxs & the Environment seminar. The seminar is run in
collaboration with SEHE affiliates Sam Ying, Cecilia Vasquez and the UCR
Latinxs & the Environment Initiative. I'll attach a flyer for the L&E
seminar, if you would like to share with your students who might be looking
for a one- or two-credit course option.

Following the talk, please join us for a *SEHE social hour at the Stable
(1/15~5-6pm)*. We will welcome new SEHE postdoctoral fellow Dr. Aaron
Gregory, who will be working with Chikako Takeshita on a two-year
DOE-funded project, "A Humanities-Driven STEM Approach for Student Training
in Carbon Capture and Conversion."
All are welcome!

I'd also like to share an update on the SEHE faculty search: we have made
an offer to Dr. Cristina Gomez Vidal. There are many bureaucratic steps
before the offer becomes official, but I am excited and confident that Dr.
Gomez Vidal likely will join us next year. I'll send an official
announcement when it happens. Thank you so much to those who attended talks
and meals, provided feedback and participated in our discussions!!!
