and public art project <http://livefromthefrontline.org> exploring 8
neighborhoods connected by the long history of logistics in the Inland
Empire. Tamara Cedré will talk about the project and her work, which
juxtaposes new photographs with archival imagery to reveal the forces that
have shaped settlement and land use in environmental justice communities.
This is a chance to see the exhibition at UCR Arts, which features
industrial histories of Colton and Fontana, before it closes on October 27,
and to celebrate these communities and others represented in the project.
Reception to follow.
*About the Project*
Presented by A People's History of the I.E.
<http://peopleshistoryie.org>, *Live
from the Frontline <http://livefromthefrontline.org>* is a participatory
memory project that brings artists into the archives and the landscapes of
logistics to explore the roots of environmental racism in Riverside and San
Bernardino. Each site makes palpable long histories of colonialism and
extraction from the land and labor. Together they reveal what the curators
call “the slow violence of the supply chain.” Artists/curators have created
site-specific works (launching throughout 2024-25) and exhibitions at UCR
Arts (closing October 27) and St. Mark's Missionary Baptist Church (ongoing
@ 259 E. Central Ave, San Bernardino) that connect past and present and
support advocacy for social justice. The project is curated by Cathy Gudis,
Audrey Maier, and Jen Tilton. For more info: peopleshistoryie at gmail.com.
