One more piece of good news: Cassia Roth's article, "'Maria Simoa, Who
Birthed Twenty-Four Children': Slavery, Motherhood, and Freedom on the
Benedictine Estates, Pernambuco, Brazil, 1866–1871" (*Hispanic American
Historical Review*), just won the 2024 Hanger Article Prize from the Latin
American and Caribbean Section of the Southern Historical Association.
