* We will have a special one-time look at archival objects from the project
with Timothy LeBlanc, Gluck Fellow at UCR ARTS. Tours by UCR student Evelyn
Jimenez, Colton resident and SEHE Butterfly Program Staff. Meet the artist
@ 7:30pm. UCR Arts, 3824 Main St., Riverside. All events are free and open
to the public.*A People’s History of the I.E. presents *Live from the
Frontline* <http://livefromthefrontline.org/>, a participatory public
memory project inviting artists into the archives and the landscapes of
logistics to create site-specific works that explore the roots of
environmental racism, and to concurrently advocate for social justice. In
this exhibition, artist @tamara_cedre examines the industrial heritage of
Colton and Fontana as a way of framing current questions surrounding the
sprawl of logistics. She juxtaposes her new photographic works with
archival imagery to reveal the forces that have shaped settlement and land
use in communities living along infrastructural corridors of rail, truck,
and freeway corridors. Aerial footage and soundscapes bring voices and
sounds from the environment into the gallery.
*The exhibition at UCR ARTS is the first installation of Live from the
Frontline <http://livefromthefrontline.org/>, a multi-part project
featuring 8 neighborhoods linked by the long histories of logistics. *
