Chase Dunn (chriscd at ucr.edu) for those of you interested in coordinating
faculty support for the protest encampment at UCR organized by the Students
for Justice in Palestine. -Ellen

dear colleagues,
the UCR branch of the Students for Justice in Palestine
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Students_for_Justice_in_Palestine> (SJP) has
set up a protest encampment near the UCR Bell Tower. In view of the U.S.
supported genocide being carried out in Gaza UCR faculty should consider
how we can support our students.
the UCR demands are quite similar to those being made at other campuses -
mainly UC Foundation divestment from firms that benefited from the war. The
UC Foundation already divested from the fossil fuel industry and so this
action is quite feasible.
At UCLA large group of faculty has walked out of their classes in support
of the SJP protest.
We should constitute a faculty support group and discuss next steps. If you
are interested in this please contact me.
