Eco-anxiety. Climate guilt. Pre-traumatic stress disorder. Solastalgia. The
study of environmental emotions and related mental health impacts is a
rapidly growing field, but most researchers overlook a closely related
concern: reproductive anxiety. Climate Anxiety and the Kid Question is the
first comprehensive study of how environmental emotions influence whether,
when, and why people today decide to become parents—or not. Join author
Jade S. Sasser (SEHE and GSST) for a book talk, followed by a conversation
with Kalina Michalska (Psychology) about climate emotions and the need for
culturally appropriate mental and emotional health services to ensure
climate justice for vulnerable communities. Followed by celebration and
refreshments.

Dr. Jade S. Sasser is Associate Professor of Gender & Sexuality Studies and
Society, Environment, and Health Equity at UCR. Her research is located at
the intersection of gender, reproduction, and climate change. Climate
Anxiety and the Kid Question is her second book.

Dr. Kalina Michalska is an Associate Professor of Psychology and the
director of the Kids Interaction and NeuroDevelopment (KIND) Lab at UCR,
where she examines the neurobiological and sociocultural determinants of
mental health in children. She is also an affiliate member of the
Department of Society, Environment, and Health Equity and the Department of
Psychiatry at the UCR School of Medicine.
