CUCSA advocates for flexible and remote work

The Council of UC Staff Assemblies<https://cucsa.ucla.edu/> (CUCSA) consists of more than a dozen Staff Assemblies throughout the University of California system. This week, CUCSA sent a letter to UC President Michael V. Drake in strong support of flexible and remote work options for UC staff.

Here’s an excerpt from CUCSA’s letter:

“CUCSA has advocated for flexible work for years. The staff have spent the past year and a half demonstrating it is not only possible, but profitable. Therefore, we urge you to create messaging that implores all levels of management to have conversations with their employees that includes an accountability option… We have a chance to redeem the last 18 months by learning to embrace a reimagined workplace instead of letting the inertia of past practice dictate our future direction.”

UCR’s Staff Assembly strongly endorses CUCSA’s statement and encourages stronger messaging at both a campus and system level in support of flexible work arrangements for all eligible staff. We are also very proud and grateful of the important work undertaken by CUCSA, which is led by two former UCR Staff Assembly presidents: Chair Crystal Petrini and Chair-Elect Dennis McIver. Thank you, Crystal and Dennis, for your continued leadership and support of all UC staff.
