Statement from Staff Assembly Executive Board:

Recent events have highlighted continued racism and violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Taking physical and psychological forms, these actions have caused profound harm and fear within the AAPI community and in some cases have tragically cost people their lives. Beyond this, anti-AAPI violence has had far reaching impacts within the UC community as they have intensified anguish, anxiety, and dread for staff, faculty, students and alumni alike.

The UCR Staff Assembly Executive Board stands with UCR's members of our AAPI community. We categorically condemn all acts of hatred and violence against the AAPI community and stand in solidarity with those who have been impacted by this. In addition, we fully endorse the Council of UC Staff Assemblies' statement<https://cucsa.ucla.edu/> in support of the AAPI community.

As an organization that values and adheres to UCR's Principles of Community, we believe there is no place that these acts of hostility should be tolerated. As a campus and society, we must work to dismantle racism, white supremacy and xenophobia at every opportunity.

MARCH RECAPS

Post-COVID Town Hall with Vice Chancellor Gerry Bomotti
Staff Assembly hosted a town hall about Post-COVID return to work on March 19th at 10am, which was intended as the kick off of a campus process to discuss ideas about a post COVID-19 normal for remote work. The town hall featured Gerry Bomotti, Vice Chancellor for Planning, Budget & Administration and Tammy Few, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer. You may view the video via Facebook at this link<https://www.facebook.com/255122481861/videos/736832126943677>.
At the end of the town hall, there were many questions posed in the Q&A section of the Zoom webinar. In the time since, the outstanding questions were collected and responses have been provided, based on our current thinking about this important issue. We expect that the campus process will lead to more input and later this spring/summer we anticipate recommendations being formulated for the Provost and Chancellor. To view the questions and responses document, please access Google Drive at this link<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hyH5nbCucjSLPgpuP-xV9Ds6avX5411w/view?usp=sharing>. Please note you must log in using your UCR credentials to view the document. On the Google Sign In screen, your login credentials will be YourNetID at ucr.edu<mailto:YourNetID at ucr.edu>.
In the time since, Vice Chancellor Bomotti has agreed to hold a second town hall during the spring quarter once more information becomes available. Staff Assembly is pleased to host this town hall and will send a notification via email once a date and time has been determined.

Staff Assembly Crowdfunding Campaign

Open now - 4/25

In anticipation of the 2021-22 year, UCR’s Staff Assembly is holding a limited time crowdfunding campaign. We are hoping to secure 100 donors to enroll in monthly donations of $5.40 (that’s like one fancy cup of coffee for the month!).

This monthly gift will support UCR Staff in countless ways, including professional development and event programming such as Thank Goodness For Staff Week.

In response to the popularity of last December’s ice bucket video<https://www.facebook.com/255122481861/videos/2774513949433939>, Staff Assembly President Dennis McIver has agreed to restore the “Embarrass Dennis” campaign during the week of April 26th! The more donors that join, the more embarrassing videos you’ll see on our social media!

To support Staff Assembly during this campaign, please visit the Staff Assembly crowdfunding page<https://crowdfunding.ucr.edu/o/university-of-california-riverside/i/ucrcrowdfunding/s/support-ucr-staff-assembly-rjhmq4cam>.

Help us in our work to make UCR the best place for our staff.
