Dr. Montgomery is an award-winning leader in mentoring, academic leadership, and equity, diversity and inclusion, as well as being a prominent biochemist. Her contributions to mentorship have strongly influenced the development of the ARA Faculty Mentoring Program within CNAS. She is currently the Vice <em><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">President</span></em> for Academic Affairs and <em><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">the</span></em><i> </i>Dean of Grinnell College. Dr. Montgomery’s perspectives on mentoring and leadership have helped form the foundations of the ARA Faculty Mentoring Program within CNAS. Dr. Montgomery is a plant biochemist, writer, and scholar who focuses on how individuals perceive, respond to, and are impacted by the environments in which they exist; this theme unites her research with her efforts for systemic change in mentoring and leadership. Her 2021 book <i>Lessons from Plants</i> creatively joins the principles of plant responses and adaptations to their environments with best practices for mentoring and creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive university environment.</a></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height: 17.25px;">Dr. Montgomery sports a wide variety of awards.
