Introduces: The Spotlight Series*

Following positive feedback on the Cycle 5 Webinar for Budget Proposers,
STScI Grants Administration (GRA) is excited to introduce a new resource
for organizations that receive STScI funding: The Spotlight Series.

This informal, ongoing series empowers STScI grant recipients to navigate
grant regulations and compliance. Each session covers a practical topic—
such as reporting, STGMS, and budget submission—and is designed to be
accessible and conversational. Participants are encouraged to come with
questions.

*Our First Session: Meet the Team and Award Process Overview *
The series kicks off with a team meet and greet, followed by a discussion
of our awarding process, and what to expect after receiving PI Notification
Letters. Attendees will also be invited to participate in a live Q&A.

*Upcoming Scope of Work Training for University-Caltrans Contracts *

Please join the UCOP Research Policy Analysis and Coordination (RPAC)
office for the upcoming *2026 Scope of Work Training for
University-Caltrans Contracts.  *This training was jointly developed by
Caltrans, RPAC, and the California State University, Office of the
Chancellor (CSU).  It is designed to support UC contract and grant
stakeholders who develop or review scopes of work for extramurally funded
projects. It will focus on providing guidance for creating clear, effective
scopes of work (SOW) that align with Caltrans’ S.M.A.R.T. criteria and
comply with the California Model Agreement (CMA). Often times, delays in
contract execution stem from unclear SOWs and deliverables, so this session
will provide guidance to establish a shared understanding of Caltrans’
requirements, reduce revisions, and minimize delays. The training will walk
through the CMA SOW exhibits, provide examples, and clarify common points
of confusion.

We encourage you to share this invitation with UC colleagues involved in
developing and reviewing Caltrans scopes of work, such as principal
investigators, Sponsored Projects/Contract & Grant Officers, and
departmental administrators.
