*NSF Announces An Upcoming Change to the Proposal Submission Process*

*Effective April 27, 2026, the Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP)
required to be submitted with all U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)
proposals will change formats, from a PDF upload to a webform in
Research.gov.* These changes reflect the supplemental policy notice NSF
26-202 <https://www.nsf.gov/policies/document/pappg24-1-supplement-2> published
January 22, 2026. A Research.gov advisory was also posted on January 27,
2026, notifying the research community that the new form will be effective
on this date.

Here’s what you need to know:

   - Effective April 27, 2026, the proposal’s DMSP will be collected
through a webform that is built directly into Research.gov.
   - The webform will be generated based on the primary *Directorate* of
the proposal selected at the time of proposal creation.
   - The webform must be completed to submit a proposal unless a
   justification is provided.
   - Documents uploaded before April 27, 2026, will be accessible on the
Data Management and Sharing Plan’s page.
   - However, once data is saved in the new form, the previously uploaded
   PDF will be overwritten.
   - If your proposal is submitted on or before April 27, 2026, a proposal
   file update is not required.
   - Additional information on each section of the webform is also
   available at this link
   <https://www.research.gov/research-web/content/DMSP>.

*Questions?* If you have IT system-related questions, please contact the
NSF IT Service Desk at 1-800-381-1532 (7:00 AM - 9:00 PM ET; Monday -
Friday except federal holidays) or via rgov at nsf.gov. Policy-related
questions should be directed to policy at nsf.gov.

Regards,

Research.gov Team

*DOE Genesis Mission Proposal Deadline Extended;*

*Proposals Due to RED by 4/29/2026 – No Exceptions *

Research and Economic Development (RED) anticipates reviewing and
submitting approximately fifty (50) proposals in response to the U.S.
Department of Energy’s funding announcement
<https://files.simpler.grants.gov/opportunities/0228b895-9cb3-4160-8acc-58709e75c3c7/attachments/83da5c66-a604-49b6-91e8-86339cefa14e/DE-FOA-0003612.000003.pdf>
for the Genesis Mission.

While the sponsor’s proposal deadline has been extended to Friday, May 1st,
please be reminded of RED’s internal deadline which requires RED’s receipt
of the Final Proposal (all components in final form and ready for
submission) at least two (2) full business days before the sponsor’s
deadline.

Due to the high volume of proposals anticipated to be submitted for this
complex call,* all DOE Genesis Mission proposals must be received in RED no
later than close of business on Wednesday, 4/29/2026**. Requests for
exceptions to RED’s 2-day submission lead time requirement will not be
granted. *
