This virtual presentation will cover the following topics:


  *   Overview of export control regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, etc.)
  *   Special considerations and “red flags” for export controls within a university environment
  *   Common export control issues with sponsored research and other university agreements
  *   Introduction to new research security requirements by sponsoring agencies, which include export controls

Format: The first hour will focus on introducing basic export control concepts. After a short break, we will open the second hour at 11am with more advanced discussion, including specific cases of problematic language or research scenarios where export controls need to be considered. You can join both or either hours given your previous experience and familiarity with export controls.

The U.S. National Science Foundation today issued a request Dear Colleague Letter, or DCL, seeking input about challenges and opportunities related to investing in robust and engaging pathways for talent interested in working in emerging technology areas.
