Importance: High

Dear Colleagues:
The Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) proposal deadline has been extended to 5:00 p.m. submitter's local time on Wednesday, July 28. Revisions to submitted proposals via use of the Proposal File Update (PFU) mechanism are automatically accepted before the deadline.
Long call wait times at the NSF Help Desk are expected leading up to and on the revised July 28th CAREER program proposal deadline. Due to high call volume, the NSF Help Desk is prioritizing assistance to users with CAREER proposals which contain errors that will prevent proposal submission by the revised July 28th deadline.
Proposers are reminded that compliance checks triggering an error message will prohibit proposal submission to NSF, whereas compliance checks triggering a warning message will allow proposal submission. If you receive warning messages, please proceed with proposal submission before the deadline. The NSF Help Desk will continue to accept calls related to warnings; however, a response may not occur until after the revised July 28th submission deadline. As a reminder, the NSF Help Desk cannot provide compliance advice or determine if a proposal will be Returned Without Review due to formatting issues. Checklists specifying the compliance checks performed on Research.gov and FastLane are available on the Automated Compliance Checking of NSF Proposals page<https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/autocompliance.jsp>.
Please continue to review the system advisories posted on the Research.gov<file:///C:/Users/jvesuna/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/INetCache/Content.Outlook/DMI31BU7/Research.gov> and FastLane<https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/> homepages for any additional updates.
Questions? For IT systems-related questions, please contact the NSF Help Desk at 1-800-381-1532 (7:00 AM - 9:00 PM ET; Monday - Friday except federal holidays) or via rgov at nsf.gov<mailto:rgov at nsf.gov> if you are using Research.gov or fastlane at nsf.gov<mailto:fastlane at nsf.gov> if you are using FastLane. CAREER program-related questions should be directed to the Directorate or Division contacts listed at http://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/career/contacts.jsp.

Regards,
NSF Division of Information Systems

Two Reminders from the National Institutes of Health

Back in August of last year, Microsoft announced<https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-blog/microsoft-365-apps-say-farewell-to-internet-explorer-11-and/ba-p/1591666> that it would be discontinuing its support of Internet Explorer (IE) 11 by August 17, 2021. As a result of that announcement, eRA is phasing out the use of IE for all eRA systems due to security concerns. By July 19, 2021, eRA systems will no longer be available when using the IE browser.

Please switch to one of the other supported browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari (and Microsoft Edge once IE is phased out), when using eRA systems (see eRA's Browser Compatibility<https://era.nih.gov/help-tutorials/browser-compatibility-ext.htm> statement).
