series Charting the Landscape of Ethical AI. _

_We are delighted to welcome Dr Emma Ruttkamp__-Bloem as our final
speaker in the seminar series. Dr. Ruttkamp-Bloem is a philosopher of
science and technology, an AI ethics policy advisor, and a machine
ethics researcher. She is the Chairperson of the UNESCO World Commission
on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST). She is an
expert advisory board member for the Global Commission on Responsible
Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain and recently joined the
WEF's Global Future Council on Autonomous Systems. She is an associate
editor for the Journal of Science and Engineering Ethics, and a full
member of the International Academy for the Philosophy of Science.
Currently, she is the Head of the Department of Philosophy, University
of Pretoria, and leads the AI ethics group at the South African Centre
for AI Research (CAIR)._

_Dr Ruttkamp Bloem will be presenting May 16th, 9-10:30am, on
Responsible AI: For - or against - social justice?. _She will start
with a brief introduction to the notion of intergenerational justice as
a driving concept of AI ethics, and will mention its interpretation as
value in AI policymaking but will concentrate on real life applications
of its embeddedness in AI ethics in the context of algorithmic
colonialism. She will conclude with an analysis of the value of
combining intergenerational justice with notions of design and data
justice for realizing social justice objectives as part of reflection on
what the notion of 'responsible AI' could possibly mean._ _
