[Provost-news] ORG 31: STAR Award Program - Nominations due by 5/31/2022

Dear Colleagues,

In accordance with ORG 31's guidelines, there will be periodic calls for the Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) program. This program provides a mechanism to recognize, acknowledge and reward employees for exceptional performance and significant contributions related to and supportive of individual, department, divisional, and organizational goals and objectives.

At this time, we are making a call for nominations for Spot Awards, Individual Awards, and Team Awards and encourage you to submit nominations for your staff and colleagues.

Nominations should be submitted no later than noon on Tuesday, May 31, to Tanya Adams (tanya.adams at ucr.edu<mailto:tanya.adams at ucr.edu>) and Jackie Rodriguez (jacquelyn.rodriguez at ucr.edu<mailto:jacquelyn.rodriguez at ucr.edu>).
Nomination Process:

All STAR Plan nominations must be documented on the STAR Nomination Form (see attached) to ensure consistent and thorough recordkeeping.

  *   Spot Award Nominations ($500): Use of Spot awards is encouraged to recognize significant one-time accomplishments. Spot awards require approval by the employee's immediate supervisor. Receiving a Spot award does not preclude the nomination of the employee/accomplishment for an additional individual or team award.


  *   Individual Award Nominations ($3,000): Individual employees may be nominated for STAR awards based on one or more of the performance standards set forth in the STAR Plan and outlined below in Plan Criteria.


  *   Team Award Nomination: Team Awards may be granted to teams of eligible employees who meet one or more of the performance standards set forth in the STAR Plan and outlined below in Plan Criteria, for work on a project within the same department or work on the development or implementation of inter-departmental projects. Input will be required from the team leader and each employee's supervisor/manager.

The Provost's Office will conduct a review and approval of nominations. Notification of approval to the nominator and nominated employee's supervisor and all other processing details will be handled by the Administrative Services & Strategic Executive Team (ASSET).

Please review the approved ORG 31 guidelines for additional information. Please note that these guidelines differ from those of the general campus.
