All Departments,
In addition to the benefits rate changes communicated to you in July 2011 (see below), the following benefit rates are also changing effective August 2011 earnings:
* Communication Infrastructure Fee (formerly Communication Worker Fee) -assessed outside the DOPE process
o Fee per FTE - $53.02 ($47.59) - increase of 11.41 percent
o Fee per Student Assistant I and II - $26.51 ($23.80) - increase of 11.39 percent
* UCRP Supplemental Assessment Rate (assessed only to payments subject to UCRP) - refer to PPS-NEWS note on August 22, 2011.
o 0.68 % ($0.00) - increase of 100 percent

The following employer-paid benefit rates will change effective with July 2011 earnings. Old rates are in parenthesis.
Percentage based benefits are calculated based on the monthly gross payroll.
1. University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP)
a. All Funds - 7.00% (4.00%) - increase of 75.00 percent
2. Workers Compensation Insurance
a. All Funds - 0.56% (0.73%) - decrease of 23.29 percent
3. Unemployment Insurance
a. General Funds - 0.60% (0.45%) - increase of 33.33 percent
b. Federal Funds - 0.60% (0.54%) - increase of 11.11 percent
c. Other Funds - 0.45% (0.54%) - decrease of 16.67 percent
4. Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) - formerly Annuitant Health Insurance
a. All Funds - 3.51% (3.31%) - increase of 6.04 percent
5. General Liability and Employment Practices - assessed outside of the Payroll Expenditure Distribution process and charged to your general ledger.
a. General Liability (Location 5) - 0.7900% (1.1099%) - decrease of 28.82 percent
b. Employment Practices (Location 5) - 0.1250% (0.0570%) - increase of 119.3 percent
6. Graduate Student Remission Programs
a. Graduate Student Health Insurance Program(GSHIP) with Admin fee/QTR - $588.00 ($641.00) - decrease of 8.27 percent
b. Graduate Student Fee Remission (GSFR) - Residents per QTR - $3,708.00 ($3,434.00) - increase of 7.98 percent
c. Graduate Student Fee Remission (GSFR) - Non-Residents per QTR - $3,708.00 ($3,570.00) - increase of 3.87 percent
