Re: Revised I-9 Form - Must Use Effective April 3, 2009

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued a revised I-9
Employment Eligibility Verification Form, which must be used for all new
hires, as well as for the re-verification of certain employees with
temporary work authorization, effective April 3, 2009.

The most significant change to the revised form is that an employer can
no longer accept expired documents during the I-9 verification process.
A number of changes were made to the list of acceptable documents within
"List A" of the form. In addition, when a current employee is
re-verified because his or her employment authorization has expired, the
revised Form I-9 with the updated "List A" of acceptable documents must
be used. A Handbook for Employers (rev. 04/03/09), which includes
instructions for completing the new I-9 form can be found here
<http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/m-274_3apr09.pdf> .

Please find an UPDATED link to the revised form here
<http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf> .
