RE: Workers' Compensation Insurance for Out-of-Country Employees

Each year, the Office of the President requires each campus to provide a
list of employees who reside and work outside of the United States.
These employees are not covered by the University's general workers'
compensation insurance, which is only applicable to employees employed
within the state.  In order to determine if any of your employees
require this special foreign insurance coverage, the following criteria
would apply:

 

*         Permanent employment is outside of the United States

*         Long term employment outside of the United States (longer than
three months assignment)

 

If employees are only working outside of the US on a temporary basis and
out of the country only for less than three months - they would be
covered under the University's self-insured program.

 

If you have any employees who require this special foreign Workers'
Compensation coverage, please provide the following information to Nini
Furst in the Labor Relations and Workers' Compensation Office (
nini.furst at ucr.edu) by  Wednesday, August 20, 2008:

 

*         Employee Name

*         Hiring Department

*         Address of Residence

*         Work Address

*         Payroll Title/Job Description (the job description can be
faxed to X 2-2672)

*         Description of Operation (choose one: Office, Classroom,
research Lab, Field Station, Dormitory)

*         Date of Hire

*         End Date (current or projected)

*         Annual Salary (estimated payroll for 07/01/2007 to 06/30/2008)

*         Dept. FAU#
